Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

All reasoning that suppresses God becomes folly and leads to foolish, darkened hearts that people who turn away from God do not recognize. Instead, they speak of “bright new ideas” or “seeing the light,” heralding their own limited insights. God Himself is the only true light, representing truth, purity, life and knowledge. God, the true light, illuminates the soul and the mind. God is the sole source of light that gives humanity intellect. All light apart from Him is mere illusion.

In the Bible, a fool’s guilt includes moral folly, intellectual folly, and wickedness. Consequently, the Bible often connects fools with denying God. Biblical foolishness represents a hardened heart and moral perversity rather than a lack of brainpower. For example, the Psalms repeat the warning: “The fool says in his heart, ‘There is no God.” While finite humanity cannot know eternal God fully, “foolishness” describes the darkened heart’s willful rejection of God’s truth.
