18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
23 but we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and folly to Gentiles,
24 but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.— 1 Corinthians 1:18, 23-24
in order to make known the riches of His glory for vessels of mercy, which He has prepared beforehand for glory—
— Romans 9:23
19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”— Matthew 28:19-20
because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
Though many people think the gospel as a stumbling block and foolishness, we should not be ashamed of the gospel. Despite popular opinion, we ought to powerfully and compassionately proclaim the gospel’s life-giving power of salvation for all who believe. This same gospel holds undeniable power today. And when we fail to recognize God’s good news as a command to obey, we minimize sin and make discipleship optional. This denies God’s glory and deludes some who are perishing without Christ-into thinking all is well.
God’s gospel invitation extends to all. There is no higher calling than to believe in Christ and shine His light into this dark world. Therefore let’s boldly proclaim the gospel’s sweet power of salvation to others. God’s gospel transforms people. The gospel creates life within a believer at the very first moment of faith. The gospel ignites power deep within the believer’s soul, fueling the spiritual walk with Christ like food to one’s body. Believers can depend on Christ’s transforming power in our day-to-day life.
