16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed — a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”

— Romans 1:16-17

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; steadfast love and faithfulness go before You.

— Psalm 89:14

Therefore, as one trespass led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men.

— Romans 5:18

20 I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

21 I do not nullify the grace of God, for if righteousness were through the law, then Christ died for no purpose.

— Galatians 2:20-21

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

The Book of Romans depicts Jesus believers’ journey as from guilt to grace. It is about God’s astounding grace to undeserving sinners. God has made it possible for sinful people to escape His wrath, enjoy His fellowship, and flourish within the diverse community of believers. Jesus’s sacrifice for humanity’s sin opens the way for new life with God through faith because of God’s abiding Spirit. When believed and applied, the doctrinal truths of Romans revolutionize how we view sin, failure, judgment, and one another in this fallen world.

Christ’s gospel is the power of God! Romans presents the power of the gospel that brings people from rebellion to right standing with our righteous God. It’s essential and very encouraging that we study what Paul proclaimed in Romans 1:16-17: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed-a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”
