Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

When we read the Old Testament, we are impressed by the intriguing story of Israel’s faltering obedience as God led them from Babylonian exile back to the promised land. Fulfilling God’s plan and returning to reinhabit their homeland did not come without significant obstacles for the returning Israelites because they faced fierce political opposition from hostile neighbors, harsh economic struggles, and internal spiritual apathy. Their restoration was a monumental, messy task.

Obeying God is rarely easy. God’s task for His people required His power and provision. The Old Testament records the returning Israelites’ story as well as the messages of God’s prophets to lead them on the right path. God offered promises that shined light and hope beyond their struggles. He enabled leaders to rally the people to obey Him. Ultimately, Israel’s story does not reveal a valiant people but a faithful God.
