Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and salvation from Christ to you.

1 Corinthians 6:11 is a powerful declaration comes where Paul reminds the early church of their radical identity shift. It powerfully contrasts their past struggles and sinful lifestyles with the new life they have found in Christ. At the same tim, Paul emphasizes believers’ life transformation is not achieved by our own efforts, but completely accomplished in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 6:11 beautifully breaks down the transformation of believers into three distinct pillars: (1) having been washed, being cleansed from the guilt, stain, and power of past sin through the grace and sacrifice of Jesus; (2) having been sanctified, being set apart and made holy for God’s purposes, continuously being transformed to live a life that honors Him; (3) having been declared completely righteous before God, as if we had never sinned, through your faith in His Son.
