Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and salvation from Christ to you.

The state of the world does leave us weary. Despite Scripture’s promises, evil seems to gain a growing foothold in our cities, cultures, and even our families. Believers – new creations in Christ – still struggle with destructive habits, evil thoughts, and selfish motives. Doing the right thing takes tremendous effort, and the way forward often feels mountainous. We may feel overwhelmed and discouraged but God can bolster our resolve by reminding us of His unchangeable promises. The attacks from Satan and evil ones do not get the last word. God will judge individual sinners that defy Him, eventually He will vanquish evil.

The personal victory we experience through Christ helps us live with full assurance of God’s eventual victory. God sees our sin. He knows the worst things about us but loves us dramatically and unconditionally. He made a way to thwart sin’s claim over us, not just in eternity but in every day of life. His own Son and His own Spirit offer what we cannot provide in our own strength. Our victory over personal sin foreshadows God’s eventual conquest over all sin. In both cases, God supplies the power and receives the glory.
