Not only being a King, Jesus will also be “a priest on His throne,” bringing perfect unity and harmony between two roles of Priest and King. Jesus Christ, believers’ great High Priest, offers His own sinless life as a final atoning sacrifice on behalf of believers and defends His people by acting as their eternal mediator, interceding for them before God. As King, He rules with perfect wisdom and justice by conquering sin, ruling over all creation, and directing the church through His word and spirit, establishing a kingdom of righteousness

The promises of Jesus Christ as both King and High Priest for building the Lord’s temple continue to gain momentum. Those from far away will come and help build the Lord’s temple. This speaks to God’s plan to include Gentiles in the life-giving reach of the gospel. God sought to reestablish His people in their priestly role to the world. God will regather Jews from faraway lands to stand equally alongside people from all nations who worship the Lord and have a part in His temple. The New Testament expands understanding of God’s promise to reach all nations with His message of salvation.
