15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin.

16 Therefore we should come with boldness to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and may find grace for help in time of need.

— Hebrews 4:15-16

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear Him.

— Psalm 103:13

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.

— Ephesians 2:10

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and He will establish your plans.

— Proverbs 16:3

Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

— 1 Corinthians 15:58

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

God never abandons His people. God knew our challenges and our laxity in devotion while we may like to serve Him. God understands us far better than we understand ourselves. He does not give up when our personal comfort seems more important than His glory. God’s love for us does not rest on our perfect faithfulness but on His infinite love. He understands our weaknesses and calls us to greater trust and obedience. Knowing that God will never abandon us greatly encourages us turn to Him time and time again.

God has called believers to specific work. God works among believers today to build His temple – the Church. God positions believers in unique zones of influence to accomplish eternal work He has designed for them. Let’s commit ourselves to the Lord with willingness to accomplish our part in His work. Trust God to say, “From this day on I will bless you.” God’s blessings cannot be measured by the absence of obstacles or an easy path. However, God brings richer, deeper, and more lasting benefits than anything this world offers to us.
