24 and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
25 God presented Him as an atoning sacrifice in His blood through faith, in order to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance He had passed over the sins committed beforehand.— Romans 3:24-25
22 But the Scripture pronounces all things confined by sin, so that by faith in Jesus Christ the promise might be given to those who believe.
23 Before this faith came, we were held in custody under the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.
24 So the law became our guardian (tutor) to lead us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
25 Now that faith has come, we are no longer under a guardian.
26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.— Galatians 3:22-26
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
The Law defines sin in God‘s term, not ours. It does not create sin. It identifies and magnifies what was already there in convicts. It brings conviction that leads to realization, but not condemnation without hope. God does not leave us in that place of guilt to push us to find a solution on our own. The Law was given as an instructor to lead the unsaved to reliance on Christ in order they can be justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Let’s stress again that the Law had become our tutor to lead us to Christ so that we may be justified by faith, but now that Christ has come, we are no longer under a guardian, a tutor. The Law functions like a spiritual school master who disciplines, teaches, points us to our inability to save ourselves and ultimately leads us to the faith in Christ Jesus. The Law humbles the proud and prepares their hearts to receive grace and we become sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus.
