God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Does He speak and not act? Does He promise and not fulfill?
— Numbers 23:19
… you know with all your heart and soul that not one of the good promises the LORD your God made to you has failed. Everything was fulfilled for you; not one promise has failed.
— Joshua 23:14b
The LORD has done what he planned; he has fulfilled his word, which he decreed long ago
— Lamentations 2:17
The LORD said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.”
— Jeremiah 1:12
19 We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt. And you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture comes from one’s own interpretation.
21 For no such prophecy was ever brought forth by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.— 2 Peter 1:19-21
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
When people refuse to believe what the Bible prophesies or foretells, they discount all God has done and ignores what He promises to do. If we fail to trust God to fulfill what He has promised, we essentially call Him a liar. It is impossible for God to lie! Discarding biblical prophecies about the future means rejecting irrefutable evidence of the glorious work God has already accomplished, and promised, and it leaves us despairing and defeated.
To believe in prophecy’s fulfillment means living with unabashed hope. The glorious reality of prophecy-fulfilled and yet-to-be fulfilled-allows God’s children to look beyond their circumstances toward God’s greater plan and rest in the peace in God’s promises. God promises His children a glorious future-an eternity in His presence. Until that day, believers in Jesus Christ can live in priceless joy as God continues to unfurl His promises in accordance with His divine timetable.
