21 Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent Me, so also I am sending you.”
22 When He had said this, He breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.— John 20:21-22
5 Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.
6 The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace,
7 because the mind of the flesh is hostile to God: It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
8 Those controlled by the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are controlled not by the flesh, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
10 But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.— Romans 8:5-10
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
We can and should pray when we are dry,
confused or numb. If we have known about the Spirit, but we have never walked with Him, let’s pray. Let’s pray to our Lord to breathe on us, and to grant us daily encounters with Him. Let’s tell the Lord that we don’t want control but we want His leadership. Let’s pray to welcome the Spirit to convict us, comfort us, correct us, guide us, and empower us.
Let’s repent for every time we try to do life without the Lord, without the Spirit. Let’s lay down pride, fear, distraction, doubt and invite the Spirit come into our every moment, morning and night, decision making and submission. Let’s not only want to speak about the Spirit but want to walk with Him in reality. Let’s not just want to talk about His power for a moment but want to live in it for a lifetime, not for a service, but for every step!
