‘He will wipe away every tear from their eyes,’ and there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the former things have passed away.
— Revelation 21:4
He will swallow up death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.
— Isaiah 25:8
14 For the love of Christ compels us, having concluded this, that one died for all, therefore all died.
15 And He died for all, so that they who live would no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf.
16 Therefore from now on we recognize no one according to the flesh; even though we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him in this way no longer.
17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.— 2 Corinthians 5:14-17
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
With a father’s heart, God has always planned to live among His children in perfect fellowship. God’s presence replaces the separation resulting from humanity’s fall into sin in the garden of Eden. The Lamb’s triumphant sacrifice has accomplished God’s purpose for the people He loves. This life with God will satisfy every sense of loneliness and alienation ever experienced by a human heart. Every joy will exponentially intensify. All of us were created for this!
God Himself will tenderly “wipe away the tears from all faces.” God’s people will no longer endure pain, regret, and death. There will be no more mourning, for “the old order of things has passed away.” Every person bears God’s image, yet our broken lives relentlessly demonstrate how thoroughly sin has scarred humanity. But soon the ruined old order will be gone, along with all sadness. Hallelujah! Praise God! Praise the Lord!
