7 When the thousand years are complete, Satan will be released from his prison,

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

Though at the end of Jesus’s thousand-year reign, Satan will incite unbelievers on earth to wage a final battle against God, with swift and final authority, these rebels and Satan the devil who deceived them will be thrown into a lake of burning fire forever. Only Jesus can perfectly resolve ancient rivalries. The Prince of Peace offers His transforming peace now to believers who surrender to His benevolent control. Ultimately, Jesus will reign over all the earth along with His blessed and holy people.

Jesus said, “The gates of Hades will not overcome” His people, the Church. Jesus’s truth and power remain victorious over Satan’s deception and treachery. The reality of God’s absolute control and ultimate conquest of evil imparts confident faith to Christians. Scripture clearly presents Satan as the master deceiver to warn us but not discourage us because we are from God and have overcome Satan and the world lying under his siege. The One who is in us is greater than the one who is in the world.
