5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You prepared for Me.
6 In burnt offerings and sin offerings You took no pleasure.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am, it is written about Me in the scroll: I have come to do Your will, O God.’”
8 In the passage above He says, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings You did not desire, nor did You delight in them” (although they are offered according to the law).
9 then He said, “Behold, I have come to do Your will.” He takes away the first in order to establish the second.
10 By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.— Hebrews 10:5-10
27 For just as the lightning comes from the east and appears even to the west, so will the coming of the Son of Man be.
30 And then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.
31 And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
42 “Therefore stay awake, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming.— Matthew 24:27; 30-31; 42
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
Jesus came to earth to die as humanity’s Savior and rose again in glorious victory over sin and death. One day He will return. Revelation 19 presents the momentous return of Jesus, as God’s enemies gather to wage war against Him. Jesus will return in glorious splendor, ready to judge Satan and the world’s armies and deliver His people to their eternal home. Throughout Scripture, Christ’s return is presented as a wonderful source of hope for believers and a terrible day of reckoning for those who refuse His salvation. Jesus vindicates righteousness and justice when He returns.
The Bible teaches that Jesus’s return will be sudden, physical, visible, and unexpected. The certainty of Jesus’s return compels believers to compassionately share the gospel with others. Scripture calls God’s people to expect Jesus to return and live ready to meet Him.
