Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and salvation from Christ to you.

Revelation 19:13 reveals Jesus another name is The Word of God. It’s a name none fully knows but Himself. We only know that this Word was God manifest in the flesh. Jesus reveals and explains God the Father. He consistently and reliably witnesses to the Father’s purposes and plans, which are also His own purposes and plans. Jesus carries out God’s purposes so fully that the Word of God and the person of Jesus Christ are one and the same.

Following “the Word of God” are the heaven’s armies dressed in white, on white horses. Are these warriors the 144,000 who stand with the Lamb on Mount Zion, or are they angels? The warriors’ clothing resembles the clothing of the bride. So, although Jesus promised to come with angels, this army may be Jesus’s bride. Whether angels or God’s redeemed, the Lamb’s army seems simply to follow Him. Jesus wins the battle for those who follow Him.
