and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him who loves us and has released us from our sins by His blood

Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
John described that, riding on the white horse, the Lord Jesus, wears many crowns. His many crowns signify He, the King of kings and Lord of lords, has absolute rule over every nation, place, and person. Regal power belongs only to Jesus, the faithful and true one. Christ’s power is so strong that “He has a name written on Him that no one knows but Himself.” There is a name for Him that is reserved for eternity. When we receive the revelation of this name, we will know God is infinitely greater than we can now know Him in our finite nature.
John continued that the Lord Jesus wears a robe dipped in blood. As Jesus Christ returns, He conquers not by first shedding His enemies’ blood but by shedding His own blood to wash and take away His people’s sin just as Revelation 7 mentions a great multitude, worshiping before the throne, had washed their robes white in the blood of the Lamb, who died for them. Eventually Jesus will overcome and destroy His enemies, but He is also the faithful and true one whose blood saves His people.
