Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

After John saw the wedding banquet of The Lamb and His bride, The scene shifts as John receives a new revelation from God, he saw heaven stand open, and he was about to see the climax of the struggle against all evil and the final defeat of the beast, or Antichrist, and his followers. John saw sitting astride a white horse, the One who is worthy of worship. The rider, “called Faithful and True,” is the Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful and true describe the character, words, and actions of the Lord Jesus. He is completely trustworthy in all He says and does. Jesus is faithful to His Word and to His people whom He died to save.

When the faithful and true One judges righteously, faithfully and fairly and wages war, He harms no innocents. John recorded that Jesus’s “eyes are like blazing fire.” It points to His penetrating, complete vision that obliterates all pretense; He knows the secrets of every heart. Praise the Lord that the pure fire of His gaze will overwhelm anyone foolish enough to stand against Him or the truth.
