For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and salvation from Christ to you.

In Jesus Christ’s death we all have died with Him and our lives are hidden with Christ in God. No one could sneak into, find us, and then wrestle us away from Christ. Could Satan? Could we do that to ourselves? No! No one could! Each of us is one part of the body of Christ. If we could lose our salvation, Jesus’ body would lose an arm or a leg. That just is not going to happen to our Lord! Christ is the head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first born from the dead, so that He himself will come to have preeminence in everything, including in each of us, the members of His body.

When we believed Jesus, the Helper, the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth, entered to abide within us and He will be with us forever. If we could lose our salvation and end up in the Lake of Fire someday, the Holy Spirit would likewise have to suffer together with us there. If we become condemned, He would have to become condemned together with us forever. From this argument, we know our salvation is secure eternally. And since we have died with Christ, we will also live with Him. As odd as this may sound, the fact that we died with Christ guaranteed we will live with Him. God will keep His promise of our forever secure salvation.
