Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and salvation from Christ to you.
When we believe in Jesus and His redemption work for saving us, we are secure forever. It is God who saves us. Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne and to the Lamb. God, the Author of our salvation says salvation is everlasting. Since salvation is God’s work, the only way a believer could ever lose their salvation would be if God somehow failed. But God will not fail. The apostle Paul assured us that God who began a good work in us will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus. the Bible also teaches that God’s protection keeps believers safe and secure all the way through to eternity.
In His mercy, God Himself preserves and maintains our salvation completely apart from our good works. Our salvation is secure based on God’s promises, not on our successes or failures.John said that God Himself made a promise of eternal life to His children. Although God is the one maintains and preserves our salvation, a believer may still have doubts regarding this issue. We should always let the Bible, not our personal opinions, experiences, feelings, or dogma be our guide. The Word of God has to be the final authority on the matter of the security of our salvation. Let’s search the Bible diligently to make sure what we hold on to is truly what the Bible says.
