The gospel concerning God’s Son Jesus Christ is to be believed. The results of believing the gospel are forgiveness of sins through Jesus Christ, everyone who believes is freed from all things that the Law of Moses could not free. Paul explained the gospel, saying, “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ dies for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

Concisely speaking, the message we must believe in order to be saved has to do with this particular person, Jesus Christ, and what He did on our behalf: Christ died for our sins and He rose again. The gospel is an objective message about the most important historical event that ever took place. It is the news report concerning what Jesus Christ did: He died on the cross and rose again three days later. He did this to forgive us of our sins, save us from God’s just wrath and provide us with eternal life!
