Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
The Law was given to make the whole world accountable to God for their sin. Romans 3:19 says, “Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.”This is a universal truth. The Law is not just for the Jews. It is for everyone whether he or she has heard about the 10 Commandments or not. God’s moral law is written on every single person‘s heart. No one escapes the authority of the Law. Accountability before God is not optional. It’s inevitable.
Romans 7:7 says that we would’ve not come to know sin except through the Law. The law is good if one uses it lawfully and if we realize that the law was not given to convict on righteous people but for those who are wild and rebellious. The Law is not a checklist for moral people. It’s a mirror for sinful people and we are all sinners who have committed sins. The Law exposes guilt and the true condition of our hearts. It declares the entire world guilty before our holy God.
