23 But I see another law at work in my body, warring against the law of my mind and holding me captive to the law of sin that dwells within me.

24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

25a Thanks be to God, through Jesus Christ our Lord!

— Romans 7:23-25a

1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

2 For in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set you free from the law of sin and death.

3 For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man, as an offering for sin. He thus condemned sin in the flesh,

4 so that the righteous standard of the law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.

5 Those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh; but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit.

6 The mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace

— Romans 8:1-6

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

In Romans 8:1-2, Paul declares that therefore there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus, the law of the spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of death. This freedom isn’t based on our performance. It’s based on God‘s grace that we’re not condemned for our failures. We have been lifted up by God‘s forgiveness, and given the strength to keep moving forward. Have you ever felt defeated by the weight of your past or the struggles of the present?

Paul’s message to the Romans reminds us that we don’t have to live as prisoners to our past mistakes or our present struggles. In Christ, we are free to grow, to heal, and to become who God intended us to be. This freedom is a journey, and a daily decision to live in the light of God‘s love and grace and to trust that He is transforming us from the inside out.
