11 Then the LORD said, “Go out and stand on the mountain before the LORD. Behold, the LORD is about to pass by.” And a great and mighty wind tore into the mountains and shattered the rocks before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake.

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

We know sometimes the Spirit waits until we slow and quiet down enough to hear His voice. And this is where true wisdom and guidance meet. And the Spirit’s voice will never contradict God‘s word so if we want to hear Him more clearly, we start with getting to know the Bible. A good way to know the words in the Bible is to pray with the words in the Bible and at the meantime we ask Him questions and expect real answers from Him. Let’s learn not just to look for what’s easiest, but look for what brings peace in our spirits and what brings alignment with His word.

God also often uses people around us to confirm what He is saying and what the Spirit speaks through wise council, through unexpected encouragement, or through a sermon that it’s exactly where we need to listen. God is never limited the ways how He reaches us. Do we remember the last thing the Spirit told us to do? Did we obey? Did we delay? Did we dismiss it because it felt too small, too risky, or too vague? We will learn that obedience sharpens our hearing. Praise the Lord! Every time when we say yes to His voice, our ears grow more sensitive.
