So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.

— Galatians 5:16

26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know how we ought to pray, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words.

27 And the One searching hearts knows what is the mindset of the Spirit, because He intercedes for the saints according to God.

— Romans 8:26-27

6 For the Lord disciplines the one He loves, and He chastises every son He receives.”

7 Endure suffering as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father?

10 Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our good, so that we may share in His holiness.

— Hebrews 12:6-7, 10

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.

We live in a time when people want comfort without conviction, but that’s not healing. That’s a numbing. The real comfort, the kind that lasts, starts with truth and real conviction. The kind that changes us is always followed by a love that refuses to give up on us. So here’s the question: What have we been listening to? Is it the One that gently brings us into the light? The Holy Spirit does not only reveal our sin; He reveals our worth in the middle of it.

The Holy Spirit reminds us who we are. He teaches our hearts how to breathe again. Once we have tasted that kind of conviction and once we have been comforted by God Himself, we will never settle for guilt again.
The Spirit not only heals our past but also directs our next step because the One who convicts and comforts also guides. When conviction has done its work and comfort has wrapped around our souls, we are not be tossed into the world again on our own. The Holy Spirit will guide us. He is a voice, a whisper, a compass that always points us home precisely.
