Now the earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters.
— Genesis 1:2
3 And I have filled him [Bezalel] with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability, and knowledge in all kinds of craftsmanship,
4 to design artistic works in gold, silver, and bronze,
5 to cut gemstones for settings, and to carve wood, so that he may be a master of every craft.— Exodus 31:3-5
And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions.
— Joel 2:28
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
— Acts 1:8
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
It’s a good time to go deeper to understand who the Holy Spirit is. Once we have the understanding, everything changes. The Holy Spirit is not a force to feel. He is a person to follow. So here’s the question: are we following that? Let’s keep going. Let’s discover how the Holy Spirit moves and then our spiritual life will never feel powerless again. The Holy Spirit is not just a presence but an energetic moving person.
The Holy Spirit’s story stretches far and echoes across generations, kingdoms, and covenant. He has always been moving. He hovered over the deep before He filled Jesus’ disciples. He empowered kings before He dwelt in hearts. He descended on prophets long before Jesus walked the dusty roads of Galilee. The Spirit of God was already shaping history from the very beginning of Genesis. The Spirit has been active hovering over the chaotic water to bring order of life and form. He came upon a craftsman, transformed to build the tabernacle. The tabernacle wasn’t just gold and fabric. It was about God powering ordinary people to build something that could host His presence.
