Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Christ to you.
Too many people stop short of a relationship with the spirit because they’ve reduced Him to an experience, a chill, a moment, a symbol. But the word of God revealed something so much more powerful. The Holy Spirit is not a vague vibe that floats in the sanctuary during worship. He is not energy. He’s not goosebumps. He is a person. He is God. The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity. Father, Son and Spirit are co-eternal, and fully divine. While the Father plans and the son accomplishes, the Spirit applies.
The Holy Spirit was there in Genesis, hovering over the deep. He was there when God breathed into Adam. He was there leading Israel in the wilderness, and He was the one who filled the womb of Mary when the word became flesh. Everywhere in scripture He shows up with focus, with intention, and with presence. The Bible says the Holy Spirit has a will. He decides who gets which spiritual gifts. He has emotions. He can be grieved. He is of intellect. He searches the deep things of God. He is not energy. He is a person, and not just any person. He is God.
