11 And do this, understanding the occasion. The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed.
12 The night is nearly over; the day has drawn near. So let us lay aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light.
14 Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.— Romans 13:11-12, 14
Therefore prepare your minds for action. Be sober-minded. Set your hope fully on the grace to be given you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
— 1 Peter 1:13
Children, it is the last hour; and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, so now many antichrists have appeared. This is how we know it is the last hour.
— 1 John 2:28And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as Christ is pure.
–1 John 3:3
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and blessings from Christ to you.
Christians are also commanded to clothe ourselves in Jesus’s character. Peter wrote, “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at His coming.” John himself looked forward to the Lord’s coming, as he wrote in his first epistle, “And now, dear children, continue in Him, so that when He appears we may be confident and unashamed before Him at His coming. Joh added, “All who have this hope in Him purify themselves, just as He is pure.” When Jesus returns, we believers will suddenly find ourselves in His presence and should align our current pursuits with this reality.
We, Jesus flowers, encourage and remind one another to trust Him and live expecting to see Him, whatever the world situations. Jesus Christ provides the clothing He calls us to wear—His own righteousness for salvation. He is changing our lives through His Spirit and His Word if daily we surrender ourselves to follow the leading of the Holy Spirit faithfully and to seek His face and the light through hungrily reading and absorbing His words. Amen! Through His Spirit and His words we are being adorned with the pure white linen gown of the righteousness of Christ. We are being renewed and transformed to be like Him and will see Him as He is when He returns. Hallelujah!
