28 I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Abundant grace and mercy from the Lord Jesus Christ to you.

Believers of Jesus Christ are forever safe in God’s hands. They have the eternal security. Before His judgment encircles the earth, God deliberately ensures the eternal safety of His own people. Though believers are not spared from all calamities on earth, they will never face God’s judgment of their sin. They remain secure in Christ forever. Believers do not earn salvation through human works, nor do they forfeit it when they fail. The Holy Spirit seals believers, guaranteeing their eternal salvation because of Christ’s atoning sacrifice on their behalf. By His power, God shields His own from anything and everything that might put them in eternal peril.

Why do some people profess Christ but later walk away from the faith? Only God knows the truth about each human heart. However, true salvation cannot be lost. God’s grip on a genuine believer is stronger than sin’s pull, doubt and the enemy’s opposition. Those who put their faith in Christ can rest assured that He holds them safe from sin’s penalty and judgment. Praise the Lord Jesus! From start to finish, a believer’s salvation is God’s work!
