I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to Me for I have redeemed you.”

–Isaiah 44:22

Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,

— Acts 3:19

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

— 2 Peter 3:9

For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!

— Romans 5:10

57 You came near when I called You, and You said, “Do not fear.”

58 O Lord, You have pleaded the case for my soul; You have redeemed my life.

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace and mercy from God the Father and the Lord Jesus to you.

Most people do not understand their need for redemption. Every human bears a personal debt of sin they cannot pay on their own. Failure to comprehend the eternal consequences of sin before God represents a disastrous error. Without the redemption purchased by Jesus Christ on the cross, this life remains enslaved to sin, and eternity will bring God’s deserved and unescaped judgment.

The redemption Jesus purchased with His own blood represents the greatest gift that can be known. Believers no longer bear the eternal weight of their own sin. By the Holy Spirit’s power, they can overcome sin and live in joyful obedience to God. And in a coming day, Jesus will return to deliver all His children to live with Him, eternally set free from sin’s presence. Hallelujah! The Lamb of God did this for us. Praise the Lord that He alone is worthy of our worship, commitment, service, and our very lives.
