23 The steps of a man are established by the LORD, when he delights in his way;
24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the LORD upholds his hand.
— Psalm 37:23-24
8 our Lord Jesus Christ, who will sustain you to the end, guiltless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
— 1 Corinthians 1:8-9
knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into His presence.
— 2 Corinthians 4:14
39 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that I should lose nothing of all that He has given Me, but raise it up on the last day.
40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in Him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
— John 6:39-40
11 For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
12 Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw—
13 each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.
14 If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.
15 If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire— 1 Corinthians 3:11-15
29 For those whom He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, in order that He might be the firstborn among many brothers.
30 And those whom He predestined He also called, and those whom He called He also justified, and those whom He justified He also glorified.
— Romans 8:29-30
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and love from Jesus the Lord to you.
God promised that He will sustain us by His own hand. God told us, “The steps of a man are established by the LORD, and He delights in his way. When he falls he will not be hurled headlong, because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.” Even if we fall, we will never be forsaken or left helpless. This is Grace and grace is undeserved kindness. We are never worthy of God’s grace, not even on our best day. Though today we might be carnal, we would be found blameless in God’s presence in His kingdom in heaven. Our salvation is clearly kept by God and not by us. Jesus Christ will conform us to the end, blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful, through whom we were called into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Even if we lose all rewards because of unfaithfulness, God guarantees we will remain saved because He is always faithful. In 1 Corinthians 3:11-15 we see that if any man’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so also through fire. And our much brighter future is that we believers have been predestined, called, justified and glorified. Our future glorification is stated in the past tension Romans 8:30 because it is certain. We can rest, knowing we will not become lost again.
