Thoughts on Today’s Reading

Grace, joy and peace to you from Jesus the Lord.

We love to tell believers and unbelievers to “keep the faith” for keeping or gaining the salvation. This is also a false gospel message. It implies that salvation is about to maintaining your faith in Christ. If one happens to stop believing , then he/she will lose the salvation and go to hell. In this scenario, the reason people being saved is because they faithfully upheld their faith and not because of the reliability of Christ to uphold them. The object of their faith for salvation is their own ability to hold or maintain their faith.

In 2 Timothy 1:12 the apostle Paul stated , “I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day. This error boils down to reliance on our own faith rather than on Christ’s finished work for salvation. Man is fragile, changing all the time, and not trustworthy at all. If salvation depends on unstable man’s ability of holding up his own faith, the salvation is no longer a true salvation. Our salvation, the perfect gift, is from Jesus Christ, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variation or shadow cast by turning. Believers shall by no means perish because no one shall snatch them out of Christ’s hand or His Father’s hand. Our eternal salvation relies on our Savior’s finished work.
