12 in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, would be for the praise of His glory.
13 And in Him, having heard and believed the word of truth—the gospel of your salvation—you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit
— Ephesians 1:12-13
yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
— Galatians 2:16
19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
— Ephesians 6:19-20
24 Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures.
25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.
— Acts 18:24-26
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Grace, mercy and peace to you from Jesus Christ.
Most believers nod in agreement when they hear the true gospel, but we all indeed want to be clear and faithful with the most important message, the gospel of Jesus Christ our Savior, that saves sinners. Though many of us were saved despite unclear gospel presentations, let’s strive to understand and present the gospel message as clearly and accurately as possible. Even Paul the Apostle desired to present the gospel truth faithfully according to the revelation given to him. He asked the saints in Ephesus to pray for him that he might proclaim the gospel as boldly as he ought to speak with God-given utterance.
Another account about presenting gospel happened when Priscilla and Aquila helped Apollos to be more accurate. Apollos had been instructed in the way of the Lord and he was speaking and teaching accurately the things concerning Jesus, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took Apollos aside and explained to him the way of God and salvation accomplished by Jesus Christ more accurately. Now since we have the Scriptures, the Bible, in our hands, we can learn how the Bible is bold in stating what the gospel is and what it is not in order we enjoy the salvation and present the gospel to the fullest.
