Thoughts on Today’s Reading

May the Lord give you the spirit of wisdom and revelation!

In the New Covenant, the forgiveness of sins is provided and God’s laws are written on human hearts. Therefore Jesus said, emphatically, “Everyone who has heard the Father and learned from Him comes to Me.” All who answers God’s call to faith and come to Jesus discover truth taught by God’s Spirit. Belief in Jesus opens hearts and minds to understand God and many Bible passages that formerly seemed obscure. Indwelled, empowered, enlightened and led by the Holy Spirit, we believers, the children of God, receiving and acting on His truth, enter a lifelong process that draws us closer to Jesus as we walk toward eternity.

God holds human beings responsible for their response to Jesus. The grumbling people listening to Jesus close their hearts and minds and refuse to be drawn to God’s Son. The refusal to believe Him reveals hostility toward Almighty God and unbelief in God’s Word. God lovingly works within human hearts as He calls sinners to salvation. With unrelenting grace, Jesus receives and offers eternal life to all who come to Him in faith. May we, who have received Jesus as our Savior, all pick up the burden to share the good news, the gospel of Jesus Christ, to as many people as possible in the world.
