For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will but the will of Him who sent Me.

Thoughts on Today’s Reading

May God draw you near to Him all your days.

Jesus, God’s Son, equal in power and united in purpose with His Father, is the One with authority over humanity and history and deserves honor. But for us, accepting Jesus’ authority over heaven and earth is often easier than yielding our own will to His authority, especially when His ways conflict with our plans or preferences.
Let our eyes be open to see Jesus’ authority. Ultimately, the truth about Jesus’ authority should lead us to humble ourselves before Him.

Jesus’ authority does not stand as a benign force of nature but as a personal reality that impacts our lives. We need never fear surrendering to Him who guards our souls and seeks our highest good. Let’s welcome and purposefully yield to Jesus and His rightful authority over our lives because of our love for Jesus. Jesus, the Son of God, left heaven’s glories to die on a cruel cross for us. He could not love us more! May our love for Jesus grow as we walk through life, apply the Scriptures and seek God until we will see Jesus with an unveiled face on His return.
