25 Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.
— Matthew 6:25-26; 33
9 Rather, as it is written: “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart has imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.”
10 But God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.
— 1 Corinthians 2:9-10
3 His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence
— 2 Peter 1:3
Thoughts on Today’s Reading
Multiplied grace and mercy to you!
Every time when I read John’s Gospel, my heart is always full of joy and thanksgivings because I see that John continued to make a case for Jesus’ identity, power, and authority to call people to believe in Him. In His ministry on earth, Jesus met people’s temporary, physical needs with a constant eye on spiritual, eternal priorities. Jesus is still calling earthbound people and believers to look beyond this world’s joys and challenges to focus on weightier eternal matters.
Jesus, as God’s Son, knows that there is nothing more important than doing God’s will. Jesus Himself resolutely stayed in the course to go where the Father sent Him and to accomplish His plan. Eternal priorities matter more than temporal pleasures. By God’s grace, He also wants to turn our focus to what truly counts for eternity. God knows we need to seek and experience Him personally in order to grow in faith. In His wisdom, God uses hardship, blessings, challenges or joys to reveal Himself and His will. And His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life, godliness, glory, excellence and eternity. Hallelujah!
