Thoughts on Today’s Reading
This is the most amazing love story. Jesus, God Himself, alone brings salvation to the world. God chose to save us because He fiercely loves us. Willingly and obediently, Jesus Christ took on flesh, casting His light in our dark world. He came to die in our place so we would not come under judgment, we might pass from death to life, and we might live with Him forever. When Jesus told Nicodemus that the Son of Man must be lifted up, He revealed that He must be crucified on the cross and the people who will obtain the salvation need to look ahead to Jesus’ ascension into glory as the Son of Man and Son of God.
Praise the Lord Jesus Christ that God is love. God is light. God is our salvation. For us to receive eternal life by faith is to see Christ uplifted and died for us on the cross, and to believe that God raised Him up from the dead on the third day, and now ascended into heaven alive forevermore. In His ascension, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Jesus. He is our Lord, our Christ and our Savior, equal with God the Father.
