Thoughts on Today’s Reading

God’s love, grace and mercy be with you!

Praise the Lord that we have a loving and omniscient God who sees and knows all. When we yet do not even know what we need to have a fulfilling life, our God has been ready to respond to our unknown needs in a glorious way: Jesus Christ, the Light of the World, left heaven’s glory to be born into humanity for dispelling darkness of this world, for redeeming us the fallen human beings and for rebirthing us with God’s everlasting life.

In his Gospel, John recorded a conversation, taking place at night when it was dark, between Jesus and a Pharisee named Nicodemus. Under the cover of night, Jesus shed light on Nicodemus’ greatest need—to be born again. That conversation helps us understand the light of salvation that Jesus shines on humanity. John the Baptist also aimed the spotlight on the One who came to save. Jesus offers the world the profound gift of Himself. He bids us to believe in Him and receive His gift. Jesus gives new life and light to those who believe in Him. Amen! We believe in Jesus and are in His light.
